From the Publisher

I started ringlinghistory.org because, when I moved out of the Big Yellow House at 201 8th St. in Baraboo, WI, a whole bunch of records came with me. It has taken years, but I have started to go through those records and there's a lot of neat stuff in there, especially, but not exclusively, pertaining to the Henry Ringling family.

Several of my family members just loved to save letters, photographs, and other memorabilia. I inherited this collection after they passed. It's a slice of history. I have yet to come across anything that the person who kept it presumably wouldn't want anyone to see after they'd passed, and be remembered -- as a living, breathing, person dealing with great joy and deep sorrow, successes and losses.

I have a small team of people helping, editing, and advising and still essentially, for now, it's pretty much just me publishing.

Scope

At this point we have access to archival material from the Henry Ringling family, and also some access to the Al Ringling archives.we don’t intend to go back much before harness maker Heinrich Friedrich August Ringling (1826–1898) of Hanover, Germany, and Marie Salome Juliar (1833–1907) of Ostheim in Alsace. We don’t intend to chase down every living relative. We’ll try to stick with the 7 Ringling Brothers and one Ringling Sister, currently with a focus on Al and Lou Ringling (who died without children) and Henry William Ringling and his family, as that's what's accessible.

We'd like to include prominent architecture from around Baraboo, WI, and other Ringling-related items as and when they become available.

We'll provide links to other Ringling-related sites as we find them.

We'd like to include a section of anecdotes, stories, tall tales, myths, and legends pertaining to the Ringling family.

The Mission

RinglingHistory.org is a not for profit archive where our aim is to preserve and share the rich heritage of the Ringling family, their connection to the circus, their roots, and their contribution to Americana.

Our mission is to educate and inspire visitors about the historical significance of this remarkable family by curating, publishing and making available scans of any documents,  pictures of artifacts, and memorabilia, that pertain to the Ringling legacy.

Please help by sending scans, pictures, write-ups, anecdotes, and anything else you want to see made available to the public to our team of curators for inclusion in the collection.

We appreciate you!
